Congratulations to NFSSE Artist Allison Schaub who was awarded a second place award for her mixed media collage on paper titled Princess Starlight in the Starry Night.
Schaub, along with her Art with Soul classmates, submitted entries for the a curatorial partnership between Arts4All Florida and the University of North Florida. Schaub’s piece was selected and on display along with fellow artists at UNF’s Lufrano Intercultural Gallery. “I am inspired and happy when I make pictures,” explains Schaub. “All of the girls in my pictures are princesses because I like their fashion. When I make art I look for dresses in magazines that are long like ball gowns that I call twirling dresses.”
This week we sat down with Allison and her teacher Grace Williams to discuss her art, and she also gave us a tour of her workspace and other pieces on display in the Berry Good Farms Cafe.
The joy Allison expresses in making her collages is pretty evident from the moment you step into the art studio. “I hope other people feel happy and surprised when they see my art,” says Schaub.
