Community Job Site & Vocational Training
The greater Jacksonville community rallies around NFSSE’s vision to help our Transition students grow into the best versions of themselves through successful experience in the workplace. By maintaining real life work experience at local businesses, organizations and community service agencies, our students begin to understand the importance of professionalism, independent living and appropriate social interaction.
We are fortunate to team up with progressive leaders and companies in our community that help to provide our students with the foundation for vocational success in the future. Upon graduation, many of our students have gone on to secure employment with our business partners, including: Publix Supermarkets; BEAM; Chick-Fil-A; Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens; and the Gate River Run.

At North Florida School of Special Education, we have made a concerted effort to expand our curriculum and vocational programs and offerings. It was through the commitment to this vision that Berry Good Farms was born in 2011. Since then, BGF has grown to encompass various vocational programs including Horticulture, Culinary Arts, Berry Good Farms On The Go Food Truck, Mobile Market, and Barkin’ Biscuits.
Each Berry Good Farms micro-enterprise focuses on specific vocational training while emphasizing the importance of integrating a healthy lifestyle into the workplace. Our NFSSE teachers, job coaches and therapists assess each of our Transition students individually and construct a unique program that focuses on honing the tools they need to achieve personal success.
